I hope you all had a happy and safe Independence Day, but know that with this week's new releases from ToW, the star-spangled fireworks don't have to end just yet! This week, quite appropriately, sees the return to print of not one but TWO seminal eras in the "career" of Captain America. First up is the Invaders Classic Vol 1 TP, reprinting Rascally Roy Thomas's WWII-era team-ups of Cap & Bucky, Sub-Mariner, and the Human Torch & Toro published in the 1970s. Featuring art by Frank Robbins, Rich Buckler, Dick Ayers and Don Heck, this volume also includes FOUR 1970s-era historical essays by Thomas, as well as pencil & ink reprints of select covers and pages.
Also out this week is a personal favorite, the Captain America War & Remembrance TP New Ptg, written by another rascal named Roger Stern, with co-plots and pencils by John Byrne. Over the course of their 9-issue run (which this volume reprints in its entirety), Stern & Byrne faced Cap off against Baron Blood, Cobra, Mister Hyde and Batroc the Leaper, AND still found time for him to discover a new love-interest AND briefly explore running for President. As if that weren't enough, they topped it all off with what is considered THE definitive version of Cap's origin, inked by the legendary Joe Rubinstein. Also included are the original introduction by Stern and six pages of the never-completed tenth issue of the Stern/Byrne collaboration.
Whew! That Cap's always one busy guy, huh? Good thing he's dead for awhile, so he can rest a spell before he comes roaring back from the grave soon!

Have fun,
S! Brett Lord, Agent of S.A.L.E.S.
